Level Loads – How high can I load a skip?
Only fill your skip up to the height of the sides of the skip “load level” No greedy boards are accepted. The skip driver may refuse to collect it if overloaded. This isn’t because we as a company want more money it’s because the transport legislation make it illegal to move a skip which is not safe and ‘level-loaded’. All loads are netted by our drivers on collection. These nets are to contain the debris and not to hold items in the skip/ Absolutely no FIRES in or near our skips. The hirer will be responsible for any damage incurred and a penalty charge will apply up to the cost of a replacement skip.
Hire period – How long can I hire a skip?
Skip hire is generally 7 days. You may be able to hire a skip for longer although this may result in additional charges. If you think you may need a skip for more than 7 days, let us know and we will check availability and discuss any additional cost. Similarly, if you want the skip removed less than 7 days after delivery, let us know whilst booking so we can ensure this is scheduled.
Access – Access requirements and firmness of ground for skip lorry
Skips are normally delivered on large 7.5 or 18 tonne lorries that are wider than a car. Make sure there is enough space for our skip lorry to access the place you want the skip to be located or consider changing the location. If road or gate access is narrow, check with us beforehand that the dimensions of our truck will fit. Please Note that when the full skip is taken away, for particularly heavy skips our truck may need the use of its hydraulic stabilising jack legs which exert significant pressure on the ground and can dent soft tarmac or break paving stones.
Skip location – ‘On-road’ skip or ‘Off-road’ skip?
Skips can be located ‘on-road’ or ‘off-road’. On-road means the skip is parked on a public road, roadside, pavement, grass verge. Off-road means the skip is parked on private property away from the road within the confines of the property’s boundary, for example on a driveway or garden. On-road skips will cost extra due to a highway permit required from the our local council. Prices vary for size skips.
Collection – When is the skip collected?
Your skip is collected when you tell us to collect it. We will either specify a collection date at the time of booking or agree for you to contact the office to arrange. Please Note collection is normally within 2 working days of your chosen date. Same day collections are possible however they must be arranged upon booking.
